Our Full History & Mission

The Beginning

Changing Life Directions has been helping people facing some of the most challenging circumstances for over four years. We began as a small community group providing coffee mornings and yoga sessions to older BME women in Halliwell living in social isolation.

In 2019, we began to work with women of all ages through the provision of bilingual counselling, exercise sessions, and peer support coffee mornings. We also introduced a host of health awareness sessions covering critical topics such as diabetes, obesity, cancer awareness, and dementia.

Founder & Visionary

Our Founder, Zara Naveed, studied Psychology at the University of Bolton and holds a Level 7 Management and Leadership Health and Social Care qualification.

Our charity was created to meet a specific need for culturally tailored support for hard-to-reach communities. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming setting for women to improve their mental, emotional, and physical health.

🌍

Leadership & Representation

Representation matters. We are proud to state that all of our Leadership Board and Senior Executive Team are from BME origin, ensuring our services are authentically tailored to the communities we serve.

Growth Plans & Ambitions

Relocating to our new centre on Halliwell Road means we can fully maximise the space to meet our growth plans and ambitions. We are creating a dedicated day centre for women where they can access socialisation activities that help them integrate, build confidence, and participate fully in community life.

Women can come in at any time for a full day or timed activity sessions.
